Helping horses for life

About Equine Guelph

Founded in 2003, Equine Guelph is the horse owner’s Centre at the University of Guelph dedicated to improving the health and well-being of horses through research, education and career support.

Equine Guelph brings the equine industry together to fund leading-edge research projects at the University of Guelph.

These important evidence-based research findings are then communicated by Equine Guelph to the global equine industry through its award-winning online education and outreach programs.

The education program then feeds knowledgeable people into the horse industry. Equine Guelph further serves the sector with provision of career pathways resources and a job-matching service.

A seamless flow between these three areas of focus, horse welfare is the weaving thread. This integrated approach ensures that research informs education, which in turn prepares students for successful careers, all while prioritizing the welfare of horses, creating a continuous cycle of improvement and innovation in the equine sector.

Since its inception, Equine Guelph has come to take the lead in equine research, education and career support in Canada. The Centre is the bridge between the equine sector and the University of Guelph. It is a unique partnership dedicated to the horse, supported and overseen by equine industry groups.

The Mare & Foal Symbol

Equine Guelph’s logo is the mare and foal – a powerful symbol standing for hope, rebirth and renewal. A new beginning – a new chance. At Equine Guelph, we believe that every horse deserves a chance.

Each day, this logo inspires us as we work together to realize our mission of ‘helping horses for life’.
