$15,000 DONATION FROM RUSS WILLOUGHBY FOR EQUINE GUELPH'S UPCOMING 'ONLINE LEARNING COMMUNITY'

Dr. Russ Willoughby, an avid supporter of education and first director of the Equine Research Centre gives back to the Equine community yet again with a generous donation of $15,000 which will help Equine Guelph launch an interactive online learning community for youth.

Dr. Willoughby and his wife Peggy announce “We are pleased to contribute to the development of programs for the horse and people involved.”

With this additional funding matching the initial $15,000 donated by Grand River Agricultural Society; the online learning tool will be available soon!

U OF G RESEARCHER, DR. JEFF THOMASON CO-AUTHOR IN INTERNATIONALLY ACCLAIMED 'TRACK SURFACES' PAPER

A number of factors affect the performance of a racing or training surface according to the 34-page “Racing Surfaces White Paper published in June this year by a globally recognized panel of researchers.

Details of proper maintenance of surfaces and training guidelines can be found, based on the knowledge gained from the researcher’s findings thus far.

THE POPULAR EQUIMANIA! ATTRACTION WILL BE EXTENDING THEIR STAY AT THEMUSEUM IN KITCHENER UNTIL SEPTEMBER 5TH

'King' proudly marched to TheMuseum on King Street with Constable Pedersen aboard. Officers Pedersen and Morrow captivated the crowd of visiting EquiManiac’s on July 12th, answering all sorts of questions about their mounted police horses, King and Watson.

Produced by Equine Guelph at the University of Guelph, EquiMania! is an interactive youth education program and exhibition designed to teach kids about horse health and safety.

“This summer at THEMUSEUM it’s all about kids,” says David Marskell, CEO of THEMUSEUM. “Both Animal Grossology and now EquiMania! provide great opportunities for kids to explore animal life interactively so they’re having fun while learning.”

If you are a breeding establishment or you have bred horses within the last ten years, U of G undergrad, Maddie McCandless or Dr. Katrina Merkies would like to hear from you.

Research is being conducted looking at the accuracy of predicted foaling dates.

Results will be given out to those who complete the survey upon email request.
